Teeth Whitening

We are delighted to offer our clients with a professional teeth whitening service at ComfoDent clinics. The colour of our teeth changes as we age or due to the consumption of particular food and beverages or smoking. We work closely with our patients to find the best solution for every person, to lighten up their teeth colour and achieve a brighter smile.

What is teeth whitening?

Surface whitening: Surface whiteners are abrasives used to remove surface stains. This whitening option is usually available in toothpaste form. Surface whitening is not as effective as professional bleaching methods.

Bleaching: Bleaching products can change the colour of the tooth itself rather than removing the stains. However, not all discolorations respond the same to bleaching products. Your dentist will examine your teeth and recommend the most appropriate bleaching method based on what has caused your teeth discoloration. Your dentist may recommend one of these methods for bleaching your teeth:

  • Covering your teeth with bleaching material and activating the bleaching material by using special light;
  • Making a custom-made tray for your teeth to fill with bleaching material and place on top of your teeth daily for a certain time; or
  • Using special bleaching material to brush your teeth.

Please note that all of these methods should be conducted under a dentist’s care and based on his/her recommendation. Other bleaching methods, which are available to the public through drugstores are generally safe if used correctly and based on the provided instructions. However, consultation with your dentist before using these products will ensure your oral health and effectiveness of your chosen method.

Is teeth whitening harmful to my teeth?

Teeth whitening is generally safe when it is done properly and under a dentist’s care. Bleaching may cause some tooth sensitivity and gum irritation, but it will be short term discomfort.
